The cradle of nautical tourism in Croatia
Are you looking for a berth or a charter vessel to explore the beautiful archipelagos in the heart of the Adriatic? Are you interested in first-class gastronomy with a view of the boats and the old town of Biograd? Would you like to be at the centre of events during Biograd Boat Show, Croatia’s biggest event of its kind?
Marina Kornati in Biograd is the right place for you!
Biograd is the cradle of nautical tourism in Croatia. After building the first hotel harbour in 1974, with 100 berths for the Ilirija and Kornati hotels, and setting up the first charter fleet on the Adriatic with over 40 vessels, Ilirija d.d. built the new Marina Kornati in the western part of Biograd in 1986, thereby creating the basis for the leading boating and regatta centre in this part of Europe.
Today’s Marina Kornati, with a total area of over 90,000 m2 at sea and almost 40,000 m2 on land, is among the Top 3 marinas in Croatia and is the driving force behind the development of nautical tourism in the Biograd area. Thanks to its favourable location and the vision of Ilirija d.d., Biograd has become the centre of nautical tourism in the region.
Every year, more than 40 national and international regattas of all classes, with up to 10,000 participants from all over the world, take place in the marina, making Marina Kornati the nautical and regatta centre of the Adriatic. A signature event is the Biograd Boat Show, the largest event of its kind in this part of Europe.
The parent company Ilirija d.d. invests continuously in the development of Marina Kornati, with special emphasis on sustainability and ecology. In addition to improving its capacity and technical equipment, a technical water purifier and an eco-storage facility have been built. Marina Kornati has for many years been awarded the Blue Flag, an international recognition for high standards in the protection of the sea and coast.

From ‘open days’ to the leading autumn boat show
In the spring of 1999, Ilirija d.d., together with Yacht Club Biograd and the charter companies that operated within the marina, launched the ‘Open Days’ as the first event of its kind in northern Dalmatia, with the aim of presenting various aspects of nautical and charter activities in Biograd, the cradle of Croatian nautical tourism. Over time, the open days have grown into the largest event of its kind in Croatia and beyond – the Biograd Boat Show. Since 2004, it has taken place in autumn and has enjoyed a consistent annual growth rate.
‘4 in 1’
The Biograd Boat Show encompasses four types of event in one: a boat exhibition (Biograd Boat Show), a congress exhibition (Croatian Nautical Days), a charter exhibition (Croatia Charter Expo), and a business exhibition (Biograd B2B). The exhibition part of the event delights year after year with a series of world and Croatian premieres, while the business segment includes an online B2B platform for business networking, which has long been a distinctive feature of the BBS. The Croatia Charter Expo also continues to break records, confirming the need of Croatian and international charter companies, agencies and companies closely related to charter for this form of meeting within the boat show framework.
Biograd Boat Show – an event tailored to its exhibitors’ needs
The formula for our success is adapting to the needs of the exhibitors, which was and remains our guiding principle in organising the event. The date at the end of October contributes to the extension of the tourist season, which in Biograd is traditionally opened and closed by boating enthusiasts Ilirija offers all exhibitors and visitors special accommodation rates and a whole range of accompanying services, which increases the attractiveness of the event and creates more reasons to visit Biograd during the Biograd Boat Show.
- accommodation for exhibitors and visitors in Ilirija hotels at special prices
- takes place at the end of October, extending the tourist season
- additional services and facilities offered by Ilirija d.d.
In Marina Kornati, environmental protection is of the highest priority and is approached systematically and consistently. According to the ISO 14001 international environmental management standard, which was implemented and certified in 2014, we minimise all activities that can have a negative impact on the environment. Since 2004, the Marina Kornati has also had the Blue Flag, an international environmental award for the protection and sustainable management of the sea and coast. Today, the Blue Flag is the most widely recognised model of environmental education and public information in the world. In addition to constant investments in the technical equipment of the marina, we emphasise that waste water generated in Marina Kornati during boat washing passes through a physical-chemical purifier (which is regularly maintained and upgraded) before being discharged, and the quality of the discharged water is controlled by an authorised laboratory. The marina also features several storm water separators, which prevent any pollution from working areas in the marina from reaching the sea.
Boat servicing often generates waste that needs to be disposed of separately: engine oil, filters, batteries, etc. If you entrust the servicing of your boat to our service staff, they will make sure that all waste is properly disposed of. If you service your vessel yourself, please dispose of all hazardous waste in the designated containers.
Environmental protection stipulates special care for hazardous waste generated inside the marina, which is collected at three stations. Please use them to dispose of waste oil (categories I and II), waste oil filters, used motor oil, waste accumulators and batteries, waste oil cans, oil rags, contaminated packaging, sludge, and waste paint and varnish packaging.
The main locations for waste disposal are marked on the Marina Kornati plan.
If you need help disposing of these types of waste, feel free to contact the marina or reception staff. Our employees will be glad to help!
In case of an environmental incident inside the marina (e.g. fuel spillage), the marina has a floating barrier that will prevent pollution from spreading outside the marina waters.
Hazardous waste is disposed of by the authorised company Cian d.o.o., with which Ilirija d.d. has a contract.
We invite you to help us keep the marina tidy and clean to the satisfaction of all users!
