On the trail of the sacred tree
The history of growing olive trees and producing olive oil, one of the primary and healthiest ingredients of Mediterranean cuisine, is more than two thousand years old. A tradition practiced for centuries has kept up with the times resulting in modern plantations managed by expert and award-winning producers of olive oil. Take a boat ride to the archaeological site in the village of Muline on the island of Ugljan and hear the story of a legionary who grew olive trees in the age of the Roman empire. The village of Lun on the island of Pag, with its protected milennial olive trees of immense size and appearance, will stimulate all of your senses. Finally, having visited the historical city of Novigrad, try the olive oil made by a renowned producer Dr Ivica Vlatković and experience how it elevates other Mediterranean delicacies.
