Nin and Zadar

The cradle of Croatia and the capital of Dalmatia.

A bus will take you to Nin, the cradle of medieval Croatia and a Neolithic, Liburnian and Roman settlement situated on an island in a sandy lagoon. The Museum of Nin Antiquities offers a chance to see the remains of the ancient boats such as the Liburnian serilia and the oldest discovered Croatian vessel Condura Croatica. The city of Nin is the recipient of the EDEN award (European Destinations of Excellence) and the silver flower awarded as part of the 2014 European Golden Flower competition.

We drive to Zadar and break for lunch at Arsenal, a Venetian armoury transformed into a high-end multifunctional object for concerts, congresses, meetings, weddings, etc. We then explore Zadar, one of the most beautiful, historically prolific and experience-filled cities in the Adriatic, and its 3000 year of existence. Starting at the Roman forum and the Church of Saint Donatus and hence moving around and along the city's Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance walls, churches and streets, you will get to appreciate the elegance of a city that served as Dalmatian capital from the 7th century till the First World War. In a city of creation which not only tends its heritage but also creates it, experience Zadar's waterfront and breathe in the fresh sea air while listening to the music of the waves created by the Sea Organ and walk to the Monument to the Sun for a fascinating display of colours.
